\n Hillcrest Hospital’s 5th Floor General Medicine/Geriatric Medicine Unit provides medical, neurological, and telemetry care for adult and geriatric patients. This unit’s clinical specialties include cardiac/post-catheterization, genitourinary, thoracic, vascular, renal, gastrointestinal, diabetes, respiratory disease, ostomy, and wound management. As a Registered Nurse (RN) Resident, you will participate in a year-long residency program, customized to fit you, your needs and your pace, where you will provide direct nursing care, be paired with a coach that guides you toward success, develop clinical judgement, cultivate excellent communication skills and acquire complex nursing skills.

A caregiver in this position works rotating day/night shifts from 7:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m. with every other weekend and holiday requirements.

\n

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

\n

\n
• Participate in a residency core curriculum based on individual learning needs. 
\n
• Provide direct nursing care alongside a success coach. 
\n
• Establish and/or revise priorities for patient care (acuity of need, patient preference and resource availability). 
\n
• Respond to data indicating risk to patients’ health and initiate action to correct, reduce or prevent risk. 
\n
• Seek supervision, consultation and assistance when unable to perform safely and independently. 
\n
• Document in patients’ medical records.  
\n

\n

\n

Minimum qualifications for the ideal candidate include:

\n

\n
• Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN or BSN program)
\n
• Current state licensure or pending licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
\n
• Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross presented upon hire
\n
• New grad or less than one year RN work experience, or experienced RN moving from non-inpatient to acute direct care clinical inpatient setting with less than one year of current acute direct patient care RN experience
\n

\n

\n

Preferred qualifications for the ideal candidate include:

• Bachelors of science in nursing
\n

\n

\n \n

Physical Requirements:

  Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.

\n
• \n

  Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.

\n
• \n

  Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

\n
• \n

  Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.

\n
• \n

  Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.

\n
• \n

  Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

• \n

  Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

\n

Personal Protective Equipment:

  Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.

Pay Range

\n

\n

Minimum hourly: $35.50

\n

\n

Maximum hourly: $55.60

\n

A successful candidate’s actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate’s work history, experience, skill set and education.
